Reservation and Payment

Now we have produced four important classes of 0 gauge locomotives, we’ve modified reservation and payment procedures.  All 111 limited edition models (and any subsequent extensions) will continue be listed individually by name and number and where relevant by period and/or livery and/or condition.   Then there are six basic stages or procedures :-

Stage 1  To reserve a specific model, log on to the relevant ‘Availability’ webpage to see names/numbers available.  Then click “Reserve” alongside the individual model of your choice.  [Those already marked ‘reserved’ or shaded out have already been taken so unavailable at this time.]  Complete the simple documentation by following instructions and you will receive immediate acknowledgement by e-mail that your reservation has been registered.  In effect this means no-one else will be able to reserve your model unless you withdraw.  There is no charge for making a reservation at this stage and you can withdraw at any time. It’s that easy to get started!

Stage 2  Following further research, Masterpiece Models will propose a series of build options, which will be summarised in the appropriate ’Latest News’.  We welcome, indeed encourage suggestions and observations about what will become the formal Build Specification.  Our proposals will be appear for about three months to allow plenty of time for feedback.  Subsequently these proposals will be modified and formalised as the standard Build Specification for the class, which cannot subsequently be altered (although of course each individual specification has options for you to select for each individual model reserved).

Stage 3  Once the standard Build Specification has been formalised, it will be posted on the website.  We will automatically request confirmation of your reservation with a fully refundable payment of £150.  This should be paid to Masterpiece Models within 28 days of notification; settlement will be automatically acknowledged.  A final reminder will be automatically sent at 21 days.  Otherwise your reservation will revert to being “Available”, and your reservation lost.

Stage 4  The £150 payment will access the standard Build Specification for the model you’ve reserved; to modify as you consider appropriate - or if you so choose, to simply approve our research.  How your model is built and how it appears is entirely up to you.  This is where research about the specific model you’ve reserved is important, should you have time and expertise.  Your Build Specification will remain accessible for at least three months.  So there is plenty of time for research, checking and to modify.  We give at least four weeks notice of the start of production.

To access your Build Specification, simply go to ‘Customer Area’ (on the main website) and complete the lower section with the e-mail address you used to reserve your Masterpiece.  [It must accurately match the e-mail address used].  Within minutes we will automatically send you a password.  You then go back into ‘Customer Area’, enter the e-mail address you used plus the password and – hey presto! – you get access, not only to the Build Specification of the model you reserved and paid a reservation fee for but also an overview of all other Masterpiece Models you’ve reserved from Coronation/Duchess builds onwards.  You only have to do this once.

Stage 5  We close access to Build Specifications just before full production commences - once the build has started, we can’t make further changes.  Your model will be built to your Build Specification so we require payment of 50% of the outstanding balance.  After all; it is being built for you!  All models reserved with 50% payment will have identity; ‘limited edition’ certificates prepared with your name, etc., stating the model is one of a limited edition built to your specification.  Models unsold when production starts will not be exclusively labelled; neither will a certificate be prepared.  Should you decide not to proceed with your reservation, the Build Specification will revert back and your money refunded.

Stage 6  The final 50% is due when models are ready to ship to UK.
